Proverbs 31:11 "the heart of her husband safely trusts her; so he will have no lack of gain"
This chapter is all about being trusted, responsible and mature. This is something i am really working on at the moment.
When you are trusted with something you get that 'they believe in me' feeling, you feel useful because someone is trusting something important, not just anything, into your hands. Just because you were given a responsibility doesn't mean you are responsible. one example she shares in the chapter which i really agree with is when you lend something to a friend and in the back of your mind you are worried that you will never see it again, this shows your level of trust with the person. Its not that you need to back urgently, but if it was returned as soon as they were finished with it, you would be able to trust that person again to lend them something, if you have to remind the person to return something, its already a sign not to lend them anything every again because they haven't shown themselves as responsible enough to return your belongings on time. Now do you do this? Do you have a habit of borrowing and then forgetting you have the item and end up keeping it? Then maybe today is the day you start returning peoples things on time, showing yourself as responsible and lend worthy.
Maturity is all about thinking of the consequences of your actions. You think about the future.
To finish off this post i want to leave you with a really strong section of the chapter which is self explanatory:
'Your maturity goes hand in hand with your responsibilities. The more responsibilities you have, the more mature you are, and the more trusted you will be. Now read it again, this time in the negative: the fewer responsibilities you have, the less mature you are and the less trusted you will be.'
She also invites you to ask these questions about yourself.
Can you be trusted at this moment in your life?
Why/why not?
Who trusts you?
What can you start doing to increase peoples trust in you?
How about God's?
