Bible In A Year - Day 12

Matthew 9:1-17

Verse 12-13

"12 When Jesus heard that, He said to them, Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick.13 But go and learn what this means: I desire mercy and not sacrifice. For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance."


This is very strong, God doesnt call those who are already 'well' or those who are 'religious' or who 'know him' (notice the averted apostrophes) because if they already know Him, why do they need Him? if you understand? God calls the sick, the sinners, the broken, the depressed, the 'ugly', the people living in hell, the wicked....the list could go on. In short God doesnt want the 'righteous' indeed He wants them to come to Him, humble to realise they aren't perfect and to follow His word, but if somebody comes to God, thinking he/she is fine, thinking they know God, that they are soooo holy, righteous, better then everyone, the MOST HOLY (other words proud) how can he/she be helped? God cant help them! God wants the broken, destroyed, those who need and admit they need help. For indeed those who are well do not need help, the sick need help..and where do they come for this help?


The Church = The Spiritual Hospital!
